Previously our site provided live chat software designed to help businesses convert visitors into buyers.

In late 2015, we changed our focus and now we are primarily an information site that does not sell any software but instead simply provides article and advice to visitors.

So what will LiveChatWorks.com cover in terms of topics?

Our main focus will be on consumer affairs. This means the articles we write about will cover topics such as online shopping, consumer safety, and frauds. We hope this information will be useful to you. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us using our contact form.

Topic 1: Protecting Yourself from Internet Fraud

As our first post, we'd like to talk a little bit about Internet fraud. While the Internet has made our lives a lot more convenient, it has also presented us with new dangers and concerns. This makes it important for you to stay well-informed about the various scams and threats you face online. As the old saying goes, knowledge is power.

Today, things like identity theft have become an unfortunate fact of life, affecting millions each year. It's impossible to say exactly how much damage such incidents do, but suffice it to say the damage is significant.

Fortunately, it isn't too difficult to protect yourself if you are aware of the dangers that lurk on the Internet. In this article, we will go over some of the common dangers you need to be aware of.

1. Phishing
This is a common fraud online where unscrupulous people will try to steal your personal information by getting you to submit information on a site that looks legitimate. The most common way in which this is done is by sending you an email from that appears official. Typically, the email will alert you to some urgent situation that requires you to go online and log onto your account. Such emails can come from scam artists posing to be a bank, Paypal, or a credit card company. In the email, you will be asked to visit a website that also looks official, where you'll be asked to input personal information or logins. The problem is that the official-looking site you land on will actually be a scam site, and any login information you type in will be recorded. Then, that information will be used to infiltrate one of your real accounts.

The best way to protect yourself is simply not to click any links within emails. If you get a notice from your bank or credit card company asking you to log in, simply go to the site on your own, instead of clicking any links within the emails. In most cases, banks or credit card companies will not send you an email if something serious has happened, opting to call you instead.. For this reason, you might even just ignore any emails that come from banks or credit card companies. That's what I do, and I've never had a problem.

2. Identity Theft
Many people have their identity stolen each year, and in many cases the damage takes years to fix. Identity theft can occur in numerous ways. One way is for hackers to hack into the servers of a major merchant and steal customer information. Every couple months, we seem to hear about a major company being hacked. In many cases, the hacked information is then used to steal identities.

The way to protect yourself from identity theft is by being proactive. There are quite a few services online that monitor your credit activity. If you join such a site, you will be alerted the moment there is suspicious activity on any of your accounts. You can therefore take action early before any real damage is done to you or any of your financial accounts.

If you are interested in signing up for such a service, the best one is probably Equifax. They have different levels of membership, but for most people, the basic one will probably be more than sufficient in terms of offering protection. Other online services that protect you from identity theft include Lifelock, which is well-known and trusted by many people. I have not used this service myself, so I cannot vouch for it, however, if you are serious about protecting your identity, this is another service you may want to look into. For more on identity theft, be sure to read this FTC article.

3. Viruses, Trojans, and Spyware
Viruses are probably the oldest threat on the Internet, and you therefore need to use an anti-virus and firewall program. The most well-known ones are McAfee and Norton. There are also quite a few free ones you can use, if you don't want to dish out the money to purchase something like Norton 360. To view all the current solutions available, as well as ratings and reviews, I recommend visiting CNET.

Now you know the 3 common threats online that you need to protect yourself against. To recap, don't trust links or attachments in emails, join a credit monitoring service, and install a good anti-virus program on your computer. There are no guarantees, but if you do these 3 things, you will be protected from the majority of threats on the Internet.

Topic 2: Facts About E-cigarettes

computer security

Today, I'd like to discuss a bit about e-cigarettes, which are become widely popular not just in the United States, but worldwide. In fact, they first gained popularity in Asian countries like China before gaining acceptance in the United States. Nowadays, I see people with e-cigarettes almost every day.

E-cigarettes work electronically, and usually comprise a battery and a cartridge containing liquid. When a user draws on the device, the liquid is vaporized and inhaled. Since the liquid contains flavoring and nicotine, e-cigarettes can be used by people who want to quit smoking. And more so than other smoking cessation tools, ex-smokers have success sticking with e-cigarettes, because the experience in many ways mimics the experience of smoking.

You can buy e-cigarettes at convenience stores and vape shops, which are sprouting up in neighborhoods everywhere. But my favorite way to purchase e-cigarettes is online. It's important to realize that many popular brands of e-cigarettes, such as White Cloud and Halo, are usually online found on the Internet.

It's even more important to look online for e-cigarette juice, commonly called e-liquids or e-juice. While it is true that you can purchase a good number of flavors at convenience stores, any selection you find at a physical store will pale in comparison to the selection you find online. More importantly, when you purchase e-juice online, you are able to tweak almost every aspect of the e-liquid, such as how strong the nicotine and flavoring will be.

Prices for e-cigarettes are less than the price for regular packs of cigarettes. The main benefit of E-cigarettes, in my opinion, is that it is less harmful for your health, and less dangerous as well. Since you are not burning anything, there is no risk of starting fires or accidentally ruining furniture. Overall, I now prefer e-cigarettes over regular cigarettes, and urge you to give them a shot if you are trying to quit smoking.

Make sure you grab these White Cloud coupons from E-cigbargains.com if you are interested in purchasing your e-cigs online.

Topic 3: The Easiest Ways to Get Your 5 Servings of Veggies

computer security

In my last post, I discussed how you can use e-cigarettes to quit smoking. While quitting smoking may be the number one thing you can do to become more healthy, you must also make sure you eat enough fruits and veggies. And that will be the topic I'll be talking about today.

You've probably heard for a while that you should be getting 5 servings of fruits or veggies every day. This may seem like a lot, and may require a bit of planning. But if you follow a few easy guidelines and tips, 5 servings is definitely doable.

The first thing to do is make sure you know what all the fruits and vegetables are. You probably get a few veggies already without even being totally aware of it. For example, potatoes count as veggies. That means that fries could technically count as a serving of veggies. With that said, you want to avoid fatty foods, so fries are probably the worst type of veggies you can have.

Here are some ways to raise your veggie intakes:

1. Drink low-sodium V8
Each 8 ounce service of V8 counts as 2 servings, so drinking a glass every morning is one really easy way to raise your intake of vegetables.

2. Substitute a salad for fries or chips
At most fast food places like Subway or Burger King, your typical side is either fries or chips. While both may technically qualify as veggies, you should substitute such items for a salad with low fat dressing.

3. Snack on fruits or veggies
Get into the habit of using fruits or veggies as snacks. One healthy snack I like are carrots or celery dipped in Greek yogurt sauce.

There's a good chance you won't be able to squeeze in 5 servings each and every day. A good solution for me has been to take multivitamins to make sure my bases are covered either way. With multivitamins, you defintiely get what you pay for. The cheaper ones found at drug stores do not provide enough punch in my opinion. For higher potency vitamins, I definitely recommend buying supplements online at well-respected supplement stores like Pureformulas. I like this particular online store because there are many online coupons Pureformulas promo codes, and they also allow you to get free shipping on all orders you place, no matter how small.

Topic 4: Christian and Other Niche Dating Sites

On most dating sites, you can use a variety of filters when you search for other members you might be interested in. The filters can be just about anything: height, gender, body size, religion, hobbies, and more. Because of this, many people believe that regardless of their preferences, joining a general dating site is the first step. This is true to an extent, but given that there are plenty of niche dating sites, you should definitely give them a look as well.

What separates niche dating sites from people on general sites is that the people on are more adament about their preferences. Therefore, if you feel strongly about only dating someone in a particular category, you're better off joining a niche site. On a general dating site, you may also receive a lot of interest from people who don't fit your criteria. On a niche site, however, you have the advantage of knowing that anyone who reaches out to you will already fit into a certain category.

Among niche dating sites, Christian dating is one of the largest categories. Within this category, Christian Mingle has the greatest number of members, in part because they have been all over the airwaves in terms of commercials.

The site asks more religion-centered questions in the profile section, and it therefore makes sense for people who place a special importance on religion to use this site instead of a larger site such as Match.com.

On the other hand, if you want to use a matchmaking service that uses psychological research to find you the ideal match, you only have one real choice, eHarmony. There are not enough niche dating sites that also own a powerful matching algorithm. But the good news is, when you join eHarmony, you can be really specific about what you want. So even though it's not a niche dating site, your matches should be the type of people you are looking for anyway. I highly recommend that you get this eharmony free trial offer if you want to try out the site.

The reason I say that is because eHarmony is a very different kind of dating site, and you have to use it to really understand how it works. Regardless of the niche you are interested in, it's worth the time to give eHarmony a trial.

Topic 5: A Review of Gamefly

Today, I'd like to spend a bit of time reviewing a video game rental service called Gamefly. Overall, I like this service a lot and would suggest all gamers check it out. So why should you join a service like this?

Let's think about how we traditionally acquire games to play for our game consoles. Many people simply purchase them, but as you have probably found out, this can end up costing you quite a bit of money. Those who are smart enough to rent either borrow them from friends, or rent games from places like Redbox. Doing this, our selection is always going to be somewhat limited.

But if you join Gamefly, you can access something like 8000 games for all the major game consoles. In addition to that, you really don't have to go anywhere to get your games, since they are mailed to your home. You are allowed to keep each game as long as you like, with the only condition being that you continue paying for your membership. When you are done playing a game, you can send it back to Gamefly and receive your next game. Shipping is always free, so that is not an additional cost you have to worry about. Your only cost, therefore, is the price of monthly membership. All in all, Gamefly is a terrific way to play hundreds of games that you would otherwise not have a chance to play.

So are there any downsides? Yes, one big one: you need to wait for your games to arrive by mail, and this can take several days. We all know that for an avid gamer, those days will drag really slowly. One solution is to get the membership that allows you to borrow 2 games out at a time. That way, you can always exchange the games one at a time, leaving you with at least 1 game you can play in the meantime.

Aside from that one gripe, I find Gamefly to be an excellent service. They are constantly adding new games, and they do a surprisingly good job of keeping popular games and new releases in stock. If you ever find yourself falling in love with a game and hoping to make it part of your permanent collection, you can pay for a game and keep it permanently. Since you'll be buying a "used" game, you can expect discounted pricing as well. If this all sounds good to you, I encourage you to try out Gamefly for one month free, courtesy of the Gamefly free trial offer.

If I were to give Gamefly a star rating, I would give it 5 stars (out of 5). Renting games will never be a perfect process, but being a Gamefly member is absolutely the best way to rent games that I have found so far.

Topic 6: Playing Casino Games Online

Going to casinos has become a nationwide hobbie over the past few decades. But what about playing casino games online? While it doesn't have the same excitement as playing at a real casino, I find that playing casino games online is a great way to hone your skills on games such as Blackjack and Poker.

online poker games

Today, there are plenty of online casinos that will allow you to play for real money (provided you live in a jurisdiction where this is allowed). To find a list of such casinos, I recommend visiting Flashgames77.com. But you need not play for just real money, as many casinos also allow you to play for free, as much as you want.

The bottom line is that whether you play for real money or not, online casinos are great places to practice your games. By practicing games like Texas Hold'em, I've been able to improve my playing style and make more money when I do go to land-based casinos in my area.

Online casino games have definitely come a long way. Today's games have great sound and graphics and replicate the feeling of being at a real casino. Many top casinos like Slotland do not even require a download, allowing you to start playing right away after you create an account.

Topic 7: The Best Way to Backup Data

Backing up our computer data is something almost everyone will see the value in. But how many of us actually do it? The answer is not enough. Each year, many companies and individuals pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars trying to recover files that they lost.

Part of the reason so few of us backup our data is because of the hassle involved. Normally you'd have to purchase a backup hard drive, then create a schedule for backing up data. But life gets in the way, and inevitably, we forget to do backups from time to time. And when something unfortunate happens, we therefore end up losing more data than we had anticipated.

The solution is to automate backups completely by using software like Carbonite. This way, all you need to do is set up the program once. It is literally set and forget. Once it's installed, Carbonite will run in the background and it will regularly backup files for you. What's more, the files that are backed up aren't even stored on a second hard drive. Instead, it is stored on cloud servers located in different locations.

Restoring files can be done quite quickly as well. If you use Carbonite just once, you will be pleased to see that the program is quite easy to use. But you don't have to take my word. You can download a Carbonite free trial and use the program for 15 days free. In addition, the site currently offers a Carbonite offer code for 30% off. Using this coupon, your annual fee for using this program is just under $60 for a single computer. That's less than $5 a month, and you'll definitely be thanking yourself later if you sign up.

Topic 8: Dating Tips for Newbies

Most younger people have tried online dating sites or know someone who has. But among the older crowd of people over 35, the whole idea of using a dating site is still a big foreign, despite the pervasiveness of sites such as Match.com and Eharmony. In this article, I will be providing some tips for such people.

online dating sites

1. Pick a site that matches your wants and needs.

Before choosing a site, make sure you have a good idea of what you want. If things like religion are important to you, you may want to select a niche site. On the other hand, if you are ready to settle down, a site like eHarmony might make more sense. If you don't have any specific requirements for the people you date, then Match.com can be a good general choice. Whichever site you choose, it's a good idea to test the site first using a free trial offer. You can get free trials of various dating sites by going to Couponleaf.com. They recently added a Match.com free trial as well as an Eharmony free trial.

2. Decide whether to use free sites or paid sites.

In a previous post, I talked about free sites vs paid sites. On the whole, using paid sites is the best way to go. However, if you are on a budget and can't afford the monthly memberships of paid sites, you can still get some results on free sites, although it takes more work.

3. Spend lots of time on your profile and get feedback.

Don't simply write the profile off the top of our head. A good profile should be written and revised numerous time. Spend some time reading other dating profiles and take notes on what works, and what doesn't. Last but not least, you'll want to get feedback from trusted friends on what they think about your profile.

4. Post multiple photos.

When it comes to photos, more is usually better. Add photos of yourself in different locations doing different things. Photos of you engaging in a certain activity can be a great launching point for conversations.

5. Don't expect overnight results.

Some people are under the mistaken belief that you can find dates quickly if you use a dating site. This is not always the case, and you may need to be quite patient and persistent before you get results. Don't get discouraged, and keep working on your profile and try to improve it gradually over time. Eventually, you will get results using dating sites, but it might not happen overnight.
